The autofrettage processing of crossbore fluid ends by which beneficial compressive residual stresses are induced at crossbore intersections was investigated. Residual stresses due to autofrettage were estimated using finite element analysis. The Bauschinger effect was included in the residual stress estimation to improve the accuracy of the results. To incorporate the Bauschinger effect into the F.E.M. analysis, a Fortran program was written to augment ABAQUS
