The Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV) Aerosciences Project has used a variety of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) solvers and experiments to predict the force and moment increments induced by the abort motors on the Launch Abort Vehicle (LAV). Solutions from Cart3D, OVERFLOW, and USM3D were compared with results from the 60AA and 26AA experiments. These comparisons were presented alongside error estimates for each data source. A statistical analysis of the differences between the experimental and numerical results were presented as a function of solver, experiment and operating condition. In addition, the accuracy of correcting for wall interference effects were investigated using experimental data.
