The fact that aliens have been visiting Earth for many years provides a number of challenges for Earthlings. Alien visits require us to switch from a Copernican view of ourselves as at the top of the heap on a planet near the sun which is at the center of the universe to being a third rate civilization amongst a host of others in the local neighborhood some of which are clearly more advanced technologically, and socially. Copernicus' book was banned by the church for 300 years. We talk of a global village, but still think locally with nationalism, militarism, actions for power and the development of ever more powerful weapons of mass destruction and means for delivering them. Our egos are badly hurt by the obvious fact that we are not considered equals by the visitors anymore than I consider the squirrels in my back yard equals. It is well worth looking at all the areas of religion, politics, economics, philosophy, agriculture, medicine, astronomy, physics and other areas of the world needing review, before we can expect to earn wide-scale contact. I am convinced that membership in a galactic community will require serious changes in outlook especially for our leaders. Can we even qualify for membership in the galactic preschool? This is an enormous challenge.
