From a series of BAD experiments with solid and hollow EFP simulantsshot at RHA target plates at different velocities, the debris spread angles, thefragment masses and the fragment velocities were determined. Additionally, several series of numerical simulations were conducted to broaden the datarange and to investigate parameters, which could not be determined in theexperiments. Based on both the experimental and numerical results, as wellas on data available in literature, a new BAD model was developed. Allrelevant model inputs are derived from a semi-analytical model thatdescribes the target plate perforation and the residual EFP. The BAD modelthen combines semi-analytical, statistical and empirical approaches to assessthe fragment mass distribution and the fragment velocities in the BADcloud. Preliminary results suggest that the model is applicable to a largevariety of target materials.
