The ability of the OVERFLOW overset Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes solver to analyze upstream miniature trailing-edge effectors (MiTEs) and the onset of dynamic stall for rotorcraft airfoils has been investigated. Static validation cases are first considered. The aerodynamic response of a deploying upstream MiTE is investigated using CFD to facilitate the development of an unsteady aerodynamic model and to improve the understanding of key flow phenomena. Several dynamic stall cases are analyzed in OVERFLOW to validate the computational methods for unsteady aerodynamics. A scaling factor for lift is introduced which is shown to greatly improve the quality of the predictions.
