Two dimensional numerical models were established with the SPH (smoothed particle hydrodynamics) techniqueof AUTODYN hydro-codes in this paper. The acoustic emission (AE) signals produced by hypervelocity-projectileimpact in integrally stiffened aluminium plates at normal were obtained under the condition of different stiffenerwidths. The influences of integrally stiffeners on AE signals and on impact localization were investigated. Theanalytical results show that the stiffener width has more effect on the first amplitude of acoustic emission signalsfrom the stiffeners than that from the other parts. Therefore, the acoustic emission sensors should be attached awayfrom the stiffeners in order to reduce the effect on the precision of impact localization.
