A Four-year long extensive research investigation has been executed to evaluate the long-term performance of highway bridge beams prestressed with carbon fiber composite cable (CFCC) strands. The investigation included long-term monitoring and testing of unbonded prestressed CFCC strands as well as CFCC pre-tensioned bridge beams to evaluate long-term characteristics such as creep rupture strength, relaxation, and long-term prestress loss. Test results were used in the design of several highway bridges in Michigan and other states.
