Engineering Use of Low-Strength Concrete in Highway Construction

摘要

This paper first presents an engineering procedure for analyzing a structural system using unreinforced Class C Concrete below footings including stability and thermal cracking checks. The paper aims to addressing and alleviating the previous uncertainties or concerns on the use of unreinforced Class C concrete as mass concrete. Recommendations on the use of such material in highway construction are made.
