Low Noise Requirements for Office Equipment with Printing Functions according to the Blue Angel Environment-Related Label

The Blue Angel is the first and oldest environment-related label for products and services in the world. It was created in 1978 on the initiative of the German Federal Minister of the Interior. The Blue Angel environment-related label for printing devices considers itself as a market-conform instrument to encourage the acquisition of office printers with positive environmental features on a voluntary basis. One of these features is to keep noise emission during operation as low as possible. The paper shows the history of Blue Angel impact on acoustical performance of printing devices and discusses possible changes in future requirements.
