A STUDY ON THE ROOM ACOUSTICS PARAMETERS AND THE TURKISH MELODIC MUSIC

Turkish Melodic Music differs from classical music by its structure as well as the architectural properties of the rooms it is performed; however there is an important lack of information on the acoustical design principles for these kinds of rooms. A Research Project, titled "Evaluation of the Room Acoustics Parameters for the Rooms Used for Turkish Melodic Music", is implemented to research the subjective and objective acoustical parameters and their optimum values for Turkish Melodic Music. This paper presents the methodology of the study and gives the preliminary results of the research on the acoustical properties of the Dolmabahce Palace (19th C.) Music Room, which is one of the rooms studied within the scope of the project.
