New design of reinforcing stiffeners,with T stiffeners inserted in U rib, is applied in connection of hybrid girder to reduce section eccentricity, and to get smooth stress transmission and deflectioa Structural characteristics of reinforcing stiffeners are discussed. Finite element analysis on reinforced steel girder is conducted and stress distribution is investigated. Elastic buckling analysis is carried out to check stability of the reinforced girder. Results of this study show inserted T ribs would improve load transmission of the steel-concrete connection. However, stress concentration around intersection of T rib and U rib would arise if connection between the two ribs is improperly designed. The stress raiser may cause U ribs buckling and decrease stability of the reinforced girder. Special methods should be taken to improve stability of the reinforced girder, especially when thin U ribs and thick T ribs are used.
