A Reusable Verification Platform of DMA Controller with Hierarchical Division

摘要

A multimedia-application-specific direct memory access controller (DMAC) has been verified in this paper with a reusable hierarchy verification platform. The developed verification platform is a layered testbench using the Verification Methodology Manual (VMM) that implements coverage--driven constraint random test. The callback method was employed to record the transactions in Scoreboard and collect the coverage data. We also used the URG tool to generate combined reports for all types of coverage information. Many components of the platform can be readily reused, which reduces the entire verification development time. Based on the proposed method, we can both easily locate the design errors and many bugs that are never anticipated.
