Takeoff phase is characterized by relatively high frequency of flight accidents. In the event of emergency, the crew needs to decide whether the takeoff should be rejected. Should improper action be taken to reject a takeoff, serious accidents such as overrun would occur, affecting flight safety. The identification speed (VID) in emergency is the main factor affecting safety during rejected takeoff. On the basis of takeoff speed and rolling distance calculation, this paper is focused on the effects of identification speed on the safety during rejected takeoff. Based on the test results of the effects on flight simulators, the paper proposes risk identification methods and safety-enhancement measures to maximize the safety during rejected takeoff.
