Thermal Dissolution Analysis and Chemical Imaging by Dissolution Analysis; Two New Techniques For Characterising Dissolution Kinetics and Mapping Materials on a Micro and Nano Scale
A new approach to dissolution analysis is described that combines microscopy, a temperature controlled stage and image analysis. It is shown how images acquired using a hot stage microscope can be analysed by a robust algorithm that tracks how structures change as a function of time and temperature; we call this new method thermal analysis by structural characterisation or TASC. We present an overview of how it can be used to characterise dissolution behaviour, we call this new technique thermal dissolution analysis or TDA. These data can, in some cases, be used to map the position of materials, we call this chemical imaging by dissolution analysis or CIDA.
