Evaluation on Tourism Sustainable Development of Wuhan City: Based on Analysis of Ecological Footprint

Evaluation on tourism sustainable development is a key problem in tourism research. According to the meanings of ecological footprint, this paper built a model of evaluation on regional tourism sustainable development. Degree of Tourism Sustainable Development, DTSD is the evaluation index. It is the ratio of tourism ecological footprint (TEF) and tourism ecological Capacity (TEC). This paper took Wuhan City as an example. In 2006, the TEF is 0.01219 hm2 per capita, and the TEC is 0.05015 hm2 per capita. Therefore, the DTSD is 0.24, which shows tourism in Wuhan is in perfectly sustainable development. Superposing TEF and LEF, the ecological deficit reaches 0.27465hm2 per capita, the city faces large stress of sustainable development. To ensure tourism develope sustainably and rapidly, some countermeasures should be taken, such as developing some recycled economy, green tourism, ecotourism etc.
