Magnetically controlled shape memory alloys (MSMA) generate stress in a magnetic field, which can change the shape of the MSMA material. In order to guide the design, control and application of the MSMA actuators, modeling of the input dependence of the output for the actuators are necessary. Based on the thermodynamic model and the calculation method of magnetic field-induced stress, the model of output strain and force are presented for MSMA actuator in this paper. The model can quantitatively describe the output strain and force of the actuator under magnetic field, temperature and stress. The experimental results and the calculating ones are consistent, which indicates the validity and practicability of the model on MSMA actuator.
