In middle or high speed, ship stern is nearly at its powered wave bottom. Propeller of SWATH easily takes in air because of no bottom above it to withstand air invading. This will affect the ship speed performance. A number of SWATH set anti-areation plate with various section shape above propeller. Some are success, and others are fail. The ratio of thickness to length of anti-areation plate is nearly 10. Theoretically it is a wing possessing thin object character. And the effect of difference on its section shape to resistance may be neglect. Actually the shape of anti-areation plate not only affects ship speed posture, but also ship resistance and flow field at propeller. The paper introduces the characteristics of wave excited by SWATH and velocity distribution at stern, the difference of propeller submerge and ship resistance by anti-areation plate section shape improved.
