Aiming at high speed and precision, a study on a motion control system of cloth-cutting machine based on the motion control card was carried out. This system’s design cutting thickness was 0~30mm after negative pressure. According to the characteristics of the cloth-cutting thickness and the analysis of cutting path, a new cutting method of combining direct-turn cutting and lift-turn cutting was proposed. Using the cutting way, the system set an allowable angle in advance. By comparing the rotation angle in cutting path with the allowable angle, the decision whether the machine needed to lift the knife up and then turned can been made. Comparing with the traditional way of testing the lateral force, the new cutting way simplified the mechanical structure and made the control system more efficient. The structure and functions of the motion control system were also introduced in detail; the algorithm of turn cutting has got full descriptions here, providing with the program of turn cutting and the control flow. The test results of the prototype verify the effectiveness of the motion control system. The system achieves the requirements of design accuracy and speed.
