The adsorption-desorption process in a chromatographic column is simulated by using anumerical method. There are several process parameters which can affect thebreakthrough curves, such as adsorption and desorption rates and mass transfercoefficient between the main solution flow and the particles. Moreover, for thechromatographic columns packed with porous adsorbents, the diffusivity of adsorbatesin the porous adsorbents would play an important role. To design an effective separatingprocess, it is necessary to analyse the effects of these parameters on the breakthroughcurves. The numerical results were compared with the experimental data and goodagreements between them were obtained.
