Design and Evaluation of a Topical Delivery System for Clotrimazole

摘要

The objective of the study was to develop a topicaldelivery system for clotrimazole (CTZ). Evaluation ofCTZ solubility and skin deposition data using aseries of solvents and penetration enhancersresulted in the selection of propylene glycol as theprincipal vehicle for developing the CTZ formulation.Transport studies demonstrated that the newformulations (containing 0.25-1% w/w CTZ) showedup to a ~5 fold increase in CTZ skin deposition ascompared to a marketed 1% CTZ formulation.
