The u use se of iontophoresis for the topical delivery ofterbinafine hydrochloride into hairless rat skin waserbinafine investigated in vivo vivo. The amount of drug deliveredincreased with an increase in duration of currentapplication application, with high levels initially in the stratum, corneum corneum. Migration of drug from the stratum corneuminto the deeper skin layers was observed observed, such that by 24, hours no drug remained in the stratum corneum corneum.Con Concurrent with this was an increase in drug in the deepercurrent skin layers, suggesting a redistribution of drug from thesurface to the epidermis/dermis. Drug was still detectablein the epidermis epidermis/dermis layers of the skin at 48 hoursfollowing delivery delivery. These re results suggest the formation ofsults a terbinafine depot in the deeper layers of the skin thatpersists for at least 2 days.
