A comprehensive rheological study involving bothcontrolled shear stress and strain rate measurements wasperformed on four commercially available products andtogether with microscopic analysis of the gelmicrostructure the findings were used to predict andcompare differences in expected and observed productbehavior. The shear thinning and recovery profiles and inparticular the higher measured elasticity of the samplescontaining the hyaluronic acid in larger particulate formsuggest that these products would exhibit superiorperformance.
