摘要

In this study a microtensiometric method based onsurface tension measurements is introduced for drugsolubility research purposes. The method is based on theGibbs adsorption isotherm. Amphihilic moleculesdecrease the surface tension (g) linearly within aconcentration range limited by air/water partitioning at thelower concentration end and solubility/critical micelleconcentration (CMC) at the higher end. Solubilities of two poorly soluble model drugs,ibuprofen and indomethacin, were studied in differentmedia. The results were compared to the traditional shakeflask solubility values.According to this study, the presented surface tensionbased method is a promising technique for kinetic HTSsolubility determinations. The microtensiometricdetermination has many advantages like it doesn’t need astandard curve, volumes are very small, it is easy to repeatand it gives a large amount of qualitative data with aminimum amount of analyses required.
