Effect of Budwood Irradiation on Fruit Weight of 'Kutdiken' Lemon

We investigated effect of budwood irradiation on fruit weight of ' Kutdiken' lemon that the most important lemon cultivar in Turkey. A total 454 M1 V3 plants and 24 non-irradiated ' Kutdiken' plants as controls were planted to field. For four years, fruit weights of mutant M1V3 and control plants was determined. For 454 mutant plants fruit weight was between 85 g and 246 g, averaging 128 g. For control plants, average fruit weight was 145 g. As a result budwood irradiation mostly decreases fruit weight of ' Kutdiken' lemon cultivar.
