SOME ASPECTS REGARDING THE INFLUENCE OF CHEMICAL CATALYSTS ON COMBUSTION OF ROCKET SOLID PROPELLANTS

In this paper it is presented some aspects concerning the mode how it is influenced the combustion of rocket solid propellants by different chemical substances. These substances, usually named additives, influence on one hand the physical-chemical characteristics of rocket solid propellants and on another hand the manufacturing process. The physical-chemical characteristics that can be modified are following: the burning rate, in order to increase or decrease of it or diminution of burning rate variation due to temperature variation; the burning stability ("plateau" effect); the combustion heat, for increase of it. The additives facilitate the manufacturing process in order to improvement of propellanl paste flow or reduction of propellant viscosity. In the case study it is analyzed the influence of a chemical catalyst on flame at exit section of nozzle, in order to reduce it. The reduction of flame at exit section of nozzle is beneficial for protection of aircraft, in the case of aviation missiles and for diminution of thermal signature, in the case of rocket launched from ground.
