The atomic-carbon-insertion reaction (ACIR) is simple and efficient; atomic carbon of :C "jump" into CC bonds without cleavage of the overall molecular structure and without significant side reactions. The ACIRs have been investigated in four processes of carbon growth, that is, (1) Linear-carbon-chain growth; (2) Cyclic-carbon-chain growth; (3) Synthesis of fullerene C_(70) from C_(60); (4) The formation of soot. These demonstrate its simple and efficient. It would be useful for clarification of fullerene formation and fullerene syntheses. It may be general and universal in many places such as in flames, discharge, photolysis, and interstellar space.
