Use of a catalyst composition (A), in a process for inserting carbon dioxide into an organic compound (X), comprising (a) at least one compound (I) of one or more metals of Groups 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A, 7A, 8, 1B, 2B, 3B and 4B; and (b) a second component that is (i) at least one ionic liquid (IL) formed from cations and anions and liquid at ambient temperature and/or (ii) a matrix (M) to which (I) can bind or on which (I) can be supported. An independent claim is also included for (A) as a new material.
