Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in oil and gas industries as an effective sustainability development measure: Case study - Sarkhoon gas treating plant

A Life cycle assessment (LCA) of Sarkhoon gas treatment plant in Bandar Abbas-Iran hasbeen performed to examine the net emissions of greenhouse gases, as well as other majorenvironmental consequences for measuring the sustainability development activities. LCA is asystematic analytical method that helps identify and evaluate the environmental impacts of aspecific process or competing processes. In order to quantify the emissions, resourceconsumption, and energy use (i.e. environmental stressors), material and energy balancesare performed in cradle-to-grave manner on the operations required to transfer raw materialsin to useful products. The purpose of this paper is to focus on LCA by establishing thebalance of energy and GHG emissions throughout the life cycle of the all main sources inplant.The used methodology is governed by ISO 14040-14043 which describes the various steps ofLCA.
