The addition of the powder activated carbon addition or zeolite before the starvation started could maintain the settleability in resisting the starvation effect as the floe size and the fractal dimension was recover quickly. The addition of the powder activated carbon addition was effective for COD removal and the addition of the powder zeolite was effective for T-N removal for a quick recovery when its wastewater feed resumes. Therefore, the strategy of the powder activated carbon addition or zeolite before the starvation started is effective in recovering the settleability and the activities of sludge performing pollutant removal.
