A novel naturally derived polyol has been developed with unique chemical and physical characteristics. This novel polyol demonstrates high renewable content along with inherent fire resistant properties. Some naturally derived polyols present issues when utilized in conventional polyurethane technologies. These issues can include loss of physical properties and increased combustibility of the polyurethane just to name a few. The polyol presented herein has been evaluated in comfort foam and rigid foam applications with no diminishment of physical properties and indeed in some cases improvement of physical properties. Furthermore, the polyol improves the polyurethane combustibility characteristics along with providing renewable content. This poster will explore the utility of this novel natural polyol in various applications.
