Reliable Measurement of Cleanliness Levels in HeavilyFormulated Lubricants, Hydraulic Fluids and Engine Oils

Monitoring the cleanliness of lubrication fluids and engineoils is instrumental to maintaining equipment performanceand reliability, as solid contaminants in the fluid canincrease component wear and cause fluid degradation.Proper measurement of fluid cleanliness is essential toensuring that system and fluid maintenance is done costeffectively.Incorrect measurement of fluid cleanliness canlead companies to waste time and money developingunnecessary maintenance plans. This work presents meshblockagecleanliness monitors as a proven technology toachieve reliable and consistent readings for cleanlinesslevels in lubricating fluids and engine oils. In industrialapplications, fluid cleanliness levels are typicallyquantified in terms of ISO cleanliness codes ("ISOCodes") per ISO 4406 [1].
