A polyethylene glycol-conjugated H_2O_2 generating enzyme D-amino acid oxidase (PEG-DAO) was prepared by use of recombinant DAO. This conjugate showed a mean size of 119 nm and exhibited superior pharmacokinetics. Consequently, marked antitumor activity was achieved by taking advantage of the EPR effect by preferential generation of H_2O_2 in solid tumors.
