The mechanism of oxytocin (OT) release from an extemporaneously prepared Pluronic~R F127 (PF-127) gel formulation using USP Apparatus 3 was evaluated by use of mathematical models. The aim of the work was to identify the most likely mechanism of release for OT to facilitate the optimization of a parenteral drug delivery system for OT.
