A novel pH-responsive hydrogel was synthesized. The resulting N-palmitoyl chitosan solution was suitable for injection at low pH (pH 6.5) and then underwent rapid gelation upon raising the pH to 7.4. The results obtained in the study showed that the hydrogel was stable (G' ~ 1000 Pa) and the hydrogel network was stabilized by hydrophobic interactions and hydrogen bonding.
