Pharmacokinetic Studies with a Mucoadhesive Multilayer Extended-Release Tablet Formulation of Levodopa-Carbidopa in Fed and Fasted Beagles

Pharmacokinetic performance of a mucoadhesive extended-release tablet formulation of levodopa-carbidopa and Sinemet~R CR tablets was evaluated in beagles. Tablets were administered to cohorts of dogs in fed and fasted states. Compared to Sinemet~R CR tablets, mucoadhesive XR tablets demonstrated higher bioavailability and extended stable plasma levodopa levels.
