Growing lambs require 10 μg/day B12. This could by delivered by an implant. Swelling and release behaviours of ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer films containing PEG and B12 were studied as a basis for such implants. This approach failed to deliver B12 at the required rate and led to wastage of B12.
