Hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH) is a type of persistent organochlorine pollutant, which can result in cancer and other damage through bioaccumulation. It has four isomers (α-HCH,β-HCH, γ-HCH, δ-HCH).This work studies its spatial distribution characteristics at different altitudes and depths in the soil. In the neighborhood of Chengdu City and Deyang City, the concentration of HCH is more than 4.0 ng/g, greater than in other areas. As altitude increases, the concentration of HCH in the soil decreases. HCH in the low altitude (basin centre) area was the source of HCH for the high altitude area (basin edge) through the process of atmospheric transfer and sedimentation. There is not only old HCH residue in the Chengdu Economic Region, but also new HCH pesticides, and not only mixed HCHs but also a new pure HCH pesticide (lindane).
