1. Goal: Reduction of its total greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2020 and by 80-95% by 2050 in relation to the baseline of 1990 (green line) 2. In fact: Germany is on its way to achieve these goals (blue line). 3. Transport sector: misses these objectives so far (red line). 4. Transport sector: about 1/5 of the total direct CO2emissions of Germany. The Goal: ReductionofCO2Emissionsby80-95% by 2050 5. Transport sector: has likewise to contribute to the politically decided GHG-reduction goals of Germany. 6. Necessity: think backwards from the two degree limit. 7. Therefore we need adequate policies and measures regarding direction and scale.
