Ileitis caused by Lawsonia intracellularis (LI) has three distinct forms,namely,acute,chronic,and sub-clinical(1).The latter,despite being the most common,can be very difficult to diagnose without the aid of a highly sensitive and powerful tool for serological diagnosis of ileitis suitable for routine testing of large sample sizes and cross-sectional herd screenings,such as a blocking ELISA(2).
