The micro-porous asymmetric PVDF hollow fiber membranes were prepared by the dry-jet wet phaseinversion process. The characteristics of the membranes, such as mean pore’s size, effective porosity andmorphology were evaluated. PVDF hydrophobic membranes were tested for the absorption of SO_2 with aqueoussolutions of various chemicals such as Na_2SO_3, Na_2CO_3, NaHCO_3 and NaOH. The mathematical model ofmembrane process was developed and solved using a finite element method. The mass transfer coefficient ofmembrane was estimated by regression of experimental data and predictions from the simulation of themathematical model.
