Fluidisation conditions in a circulating fluidised bed (CFB) can vary dramatically, from bubbling to circulatingregimes. The granular Eurlerian models have been used to simulate the bubbling and slugging behaviour of gassolidflows in CFB. Considering the dielectric properties and rapid movement of solids in CFB, electricalcapacitance tomography (ECT) is particularly suitable for measuring the concentration and distribution of solidsin CFB and for verifying simulation results. This paper reports the simulation results by computational fluiddynamics (CFD) analysis and experimental results obtained by ECT, and compares the simulation andexperimental results first time, including the solids concentration profile, temporal variation of average solidsconcentration, auto-correlation coefficient and frequency spectrum.
