摘要

Analysis of uni-slugging in a gas-fluidized bed of equidensity binary mixtures has been undertaken with particular reference to the hydrodynamic conditions at commencement and collapse regimes. Important empirical correlations for characterizing the hydrodynamic parameters of superficial gas velocity, pressure drop in the bed, and slug length were developed with respect to variations in the composition of the bed materials at the incipient and slug collapse regimes. The analysis showed that for stable uni-slugging fluidization, the superficial velocity of the fluidizing gas should be of the order, U = 0.4U_F(d)~(-U _Jφ) exp(0.52d_R), cm/s and the maximum obtainable slug size would be L_S~(max) = 0.342 (gD)~(1/2) ΔU_(mf) (3.70-d_R), cm for 1.61 ≤ d_R ≤ 3.22, where φ is a function of the particle size ratio, d_R and fines content in the bed. All the equations developed correlated very well with experimental literature data and could be useful in hydrodynamic modelling of slugging in binary systems.
