According to the demand of the navigation system of China telecom to realize high precision time synchronization between adjacent base stations, we come up with the method of long distance time transfer using GPS common view. The hardware design and software design of this system are introduced in detail. In this paper, we use the powerful multi-channel Resolution T receiver and the TDC-GP1 counter chip to form a set of GPS common view comparison system based on ARM platform. Preliminary results of the test show that the system has stable performance and the alignment accuracy is within 5 ns. Therefore, this system we design can realize high precision time synchronization between adjacent base stations.
