The current study examined the relationships between core self-evaluations and abusive supervision and whether perceived coworker support and susceptibility to emotional contagion moderated the relationship between abusive supervision and emotional exhaustion. We analyzed data from 290 respondents using hierarchal multiple regression and found that core self-evaluations were negatively related to abusive supervision whereas abusive supervision was positively related to emotional exhaustion. Both the perceived coworker support and susceptibility to emotional contagion moderated the relationship between abusive supervision and motional exhaustion. Surprisingly, the moderating effect of perceived coworker support indicated a reverse buffering effect. A discussion of these findings is offered.
