50 wt.% novolac phenolic resin was dissolved in bi-component solvent system of methyl alcohol with N,Ndimethylformamideand was pre-cured at 120°C for hours. Pre-cured spin dope was electrospun to be webs consisting ofultra-fine fibers with 500 - 1,000 nm diameters. After complete curing of the webs in solution, cured fibers web wascarbonized at various of temperatures, up to 1000°C We systemically determined curing conditions with curing agent(hexamethylenetetramine) composition, temperature, time and concentrations. The yield of the carbonized webs at 1000 °Cwas very high as 70 wt.%.
