摘要

This study examines effects of human resource and quality management practices on hospitalresults. Healthcare organizations have addressed current quality issues by adopting qualityprograms such as Continuous Quality Improvement. For quality systems to thrive, humanresource management initiatives are critical. However, little research has focused on thedeterminants of successful quality programs in hospitals. We survey the Directors of Qualityand Risk Managers at 607 US hospitals. The results of our study demonstrate highly significanteffects of employee commitment, employee control, and quality practices on perceived qualityresults and improved error outcomes. We discuss implications for practitioners and makerecommendations for future research in this area.
