TAT peptide (TATp)-modified low-cationicliposomes (TATp-L) with the size of 200 nmand high load of DNA were prepared by theethanol injection method. Rat embryoniccardiomyocytes were successfully transfectedwith TATp-L loaded with pEGFP-N1 plasmidencoding for the green fluorescent protein(GFP) and pSV-?-Gal plasmid encoding for the?-galactosidase (?-gal). This result could beconsidered as the first step towards gene therapyof pathologically damaged cardiomyocytes.
