Disc-shaped, rh-interferonα-2a-loaded matricesbased on triglycerides were prepared andphysicochemically characterized. Using analyticalsolutions of Fick’s law of diffusion it could beshown that drug release was primarily diffusioncontrolled.Interestingly, the addition of only smallamounts of PEG resulted in a significant change inthe underlying drug release mechanism.
