In this article, the design and realization of a kind of intellectual hydrographic data acquisition terminal which based on GPRS module of wireless communication and microprocessor technology is introduced. The composition and the working principle of the terminal are described in detail. Besides the corresponding circuit hardware theory scheme and software program flow diagram are provided. The instrument has 3 main functions: data-collection, data-processing and data-sending. It can conveniently interface to all kinds of water level sensors, rainfall sensors and velocity of flow sensors to make up a distributed wireless monitoring system of hydrology. The work pattern of standby mode and remote wake-up is incorporated into systematic design. The system can continuously work for more than one year supplied power only by Lithium battery. Many practices have provided this instrument has high reliability , lower cost and operation expenses. It is very suitable for hydrographic monitor which requires remote transmission of data and unmanned watch .
