The influence of the diamond tool vibrated elliptically on the ductile to brittle transition of the glass isinvestigated. It is understood that the critical depth of cut for the ductile cutting of the brittle material is increased ascompared to ordinary cutting. The optical quality surface of the glass is obtained. Finally, the reason for the increase ofthe critical depth of cut in ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting is analyzed and discussed.
